The installation ‘Spatial Transition’ explores the relationship between space, perception and reflection. To this end, 50 × 60 cm mirrors are attached at regular intervals to structures in indoor and outdoor areas. This creates visual connections between different spaces and perspectives. Rather than existing as individual forms, the mirrors merge with existing structures such as walls, railings, and windows, thus expanding into the space.
The mirrored surfaces reflect ambient light, plants, people and parts of buildings, sometimes combined with photographs of the sky taken by the artist. This superimposes the real sky and the sky as an image, blurring the boundary between reality and reproduction. As visitors approach the mirrors, they see not only their own reflection, but also fragmentary images of other works and rooms.
In ‘spatial transition’, the mirror no longer merely reflects the outside world; it also functions as a medium through which the room observes itself. Constant changes in light, time and perspective create a new composition every moment, visually revealing the ‘self-reflection of the space’. This work later culminated in the piece ‘House of Mirrors’ and formed the starting point for the exploration of unstable perceptual structures and spatial reflections.
